In the bag: Newly painted water tower soon to be unveiled

A campus landmark, Domestic Water Tower No. 1, remains under cover while workers put the final touches on a new paint job——the UC Davis logo. The tower, rising the Academic Surge Building, left, and the Center for the Arts construction site, foreground, was wrapped in plastic over the summer to contain the old lead-based paint as it was scraped off. Facilities Services engineer David Phillips said the plastic and scaffolding surrounding the tower will be taken down in early October.
