'The Long Ride'

Artist Bruce Friederich stands under "The Long Ride," a bicycle that he crafted entirely from wood. The artwork has won numerous awards and now hangs on the wall in the new Transportation and Parking Services building. His work was inspired by a 3,500-mile bicycle trip he made across the United States in 1996. The model for this sculpture is Friederich's own Specialized Allez SE road bike. Friederich was on campus Aug. 3 to see the bike.
