Womyn of Color plan sixth annual conference
April 12, 2007
The sixth annual UC-wide Womyn of Color Conference is set to take place this year at UC Davis. Organizers with the Womyn of Color Coalition announced the theme as "Decolonizing Ourselves: Reconceptualizing Our Lives."
The conference, co-sponsored by the UC Davis' Women's Resources and Research Center, is scheduled April 20 to 22 in Olson Hall and 1100 Social Sciences, and is open to the community.
Organizers described the event as a full weekend of empowering and inspiring academic panels, skill-building workshops, performances and film.
The keynote speaker is listed as grass-roots leader and civil rights activist Yuri Kochiyama, who has worked to protect the rights of political prisoners and sought reparations for interned Japanese-Americans, and promoted nuclear disarmament and freedom for Mumia Abu-Jamal.
